In 2023, Cornerstone began working with one of the nation’s largest, private-owned energy companies to evaluate their plans to expand in the South.

• After meeting to discuss their desired objectives, Cornerstone was hired to conduct a full landscape analysis in the state of Louisiana. The review included an overview of the political environment, media, stakeholder groups, and potential opposition to the project.

• After presenting the findings of the month-long analysis, Cornerstone was engaged in a long-term agreement to assist the company with both their government relations and public affairs efforts.  We are working closely with the company to develop a communications strategy that we will execute upon construction. This plan goes hand-in-hand with the government relations strategy as we seek support and input from elected officials at the state and local level, as well as community leaders.

• This single project developed into multiple projects working with the same company. Cornerstone is now actively involved in projects in Oklahoma, Colorado, Washington, and Texas.  In each instance, we’re conducting comprehensive reviews of the appetite for various projects and developing tailored communications plans that we can execute in each state, individually.

A leading hospital system retained Cornerstone’s Public Affairs and Strategic Communications team for crisis support to help manage public controversy surrounding one of its specialized care programs stemming from partisan political attacks. The hospital, its executives and its board of directors continue to face ongoing challenges, including class-action litigation, negative media attention and scrutiny from elected officials and regulators. Working in coordination with the hospital’s legal team and our government relations colleagues, the Cornerstone team provides real-time political and legislative intelligence and advises the client on its crisis response and management strategy, messaging strategy, media relations and preparation should the hospital encounter additional government scrutiny, including Congressional hearings or an investigation.
